BrightNight, the next-generation global renewable power producer, has appointed Kapil Kasotia as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for India to fast-track the execution of its multi-gigawatt dispatchable renewable energy portfolio across key states.
With over two decades of leadership experience in renewable energy and infrastructure, Kapil has a strong track record in scaling businesses, optimizing operations, and driving growth. He has previously held leadership roles at Sembcorp, Vena Energy, and Amp Energy.
As COO of BrightNight India, Kapil will refine operational strategy, fast-track project execution, and enhance process efficiency. His leadership comes at a pivotal time, as BrightNight expands its renewable energy footprint across India.
Earlier this year, BrightNight commissioned the first phase of its 115 MW hybrid renewable project in Maharashtra, one of the state’s first co-located wind-solar projects. With this milestone, the company marked its first-ever energy delivery into the Indian grid. BrightNight is now preparing to begin construction on two large-scale projects in Rajasthan, integrating wind, solar, and battery energy storage to deliver peak power to off-takers on the national grid.
Beyond Rajasthan, BrightNight is actively developing hybrid renewable projects across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Kapil, who will be based in Gurugram, Haryana, will propel this expansion, advancing BrightNight’s mission to accelerate India’s clean energy transition.
Leadership Perspectives
Jerome Ortiz, CEO, BrightNight APAC, said: “At BrightNight, we are committed to attracting industry leaders who can drive our long-term vision. India is a key catalyst in our APAC expansion strategy, and with Kapil’s appointment, we are confident of gaining additional momentum as we scale our portfolio and talent density across the region.”
Naveen Khandelwal, CEO, BrightNight India, added: “We are pleased to welcome Kapil to BrightNight India at this exciting phase of growth. His expertise will be instrumental in advancing BrightNight’s mission of building a multi-gigawatt renewable energy portfolio. As we expand our footprint, we remain committed to setting up projects that are one-of-a-kind, contributing meaningfully to India’s Net Zero goals.”
Kapil Kasotia, COO, BrightNight India, said: “India’s renewable energy landscape is evolving rapidly, and BrightNight is uniquely positioned to navigate market complexities with pioneering projects. I look forward to working with our world-class teams to accelerate project execution and enable round-the-clock clean power for India’s rising energy demand. Together, we will drive the next phase of the country’s energy transition with solutions that are both scalable and sustainable.”
